I like this place. I nabbed a free parking space right in front. Spacious interior with friendly staff. Smelled good inside! I order chiles rellanos. Came with free chips and salsa, a small soup, and a jello fruit dessert. I enjoyed my meal. Recommend!

Food is always delicious here. You have to beat the afternoon rush for lunch if you want to get a table, bc this place will be full for lunch time. My favorite is the caldo de rez. You must try it!

Best food, best service. Get there early because it gets pretty busy during lunch hour. Arrived at 11:30am and every table was already full. Well worth the wait. The tortilla soup is perfect.

It had been too long since I had eaten here, and let me tell you I was blown away. We had to wait about 5 minutes and got a seat at the bar and were promptly received and drink and food orders taken. I ordered the Huevos Rancheros with the tortilla extra crispy. Came out perfect! The Sauce was delicious, and it has been a while since I have mopped up every drop with a tortilla! YUMMM! I did not realize that I had ordered the special of the morning which came with a small bowl of Menudo. That definitely hit another spot. Just the right amount. I give a lot of rotten reviews, But this one was right on! Highly recomend!!! Excellent staff. Nice old-timey Mexican restaurant feeling and atmosphere. Wife agreed.

Old place that NEVER DISAPPOINTS. Always crowded and portions aren't enormous but this place plugs into my childhood happiness.

Finally, I was able to visit this place. The first time I tried there was such a long line that we went somewhere else. First, I love the neighborhood where this restaurant is located. It's not trendy, its not hipster, it's not fancy, it's not trying to really BE anything. It's a historic working class neighborhood where most of the patrons on weekdays are from nearby warehouses or supply stores. Upon walking in I felt the charm but not anything I hadn't seen before - small, colorful, homey, quaint. It was a bit dark maybe? We got the menu, again, not anything I hadn't seen before. Prices were what you would expect too. The service was great- fast, attentive, salt of the earth type of servers, the kind you know work hard every day and are proud of their profession. So far, I didn't get what the big deal was about El Jacalito? Everyone had told me about it and there were long lines so what was the big deal? Well then came my consumme was served and I got it. IT WAS THE FOOD. So flavorful, so beautifully seasoned, so homemade. In all honesty, the consumme, which was a mini caldo de res, was better tasting than the salpicon salad i had but it was enough for me to understand. I am convinced. If I ever have family visit El Paso or in the mood for some good homemade food, you come to El Jacalito.

If you're looking for good Mexican food then look no further. The enchiladas are enchiladas and the tacos are tacos. That's saying something compared to other places. The portions are big and you won't have space for more, well that small dessert will be hard to pass too. The service is so friendly, the tables are cleaned between customers and the menu has great options depending even on the season. The parking is very limited but there are plenty of options near by. Great place and would recommend it. Provecho!
